QUEENSRYCHE singer Geoff Tate spoke to HeraldToday.com about the upcoming
Operation: Mindcrime II, the long-awaited followup to the 1988 release
Operation: Mindcrime, due out through Rhino Records in early 2006.
"It appeals to people because it's the classic story of the little guy being manipulated by the powerful and the rich," Tate describes. "It's also a coming-of-age story about a man in his 20s who, like many of us, goes from having all this idealism to realizing it's not a black-and-white world."
The original Mindcrime was fueled by his mistrust and dissatisfaction with Reagan administration policies. Tate said he feels the same way about our current president.
"The older you get, the more you see the circle of life and you keep seeing the same scenarios play out," Tate says with a rueful laugh. ""It's like the cruel joke of our existence that we have to relive the same bad situations over and over again."
