EMI/Capitol Records Set to Release Queensryche's Classic Live Set ``OPERATION: LIVEcrime'' Featuring Two Bonus Tracks

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--June 28, 2001-- EMI/Capitol Records announced the release of Queensryche's ``OPERATION: LIVEcrime'' on CD with a companion DVD slated for release before Christmas.

The CD was originally released in a box set with a VHS video in 1991. The set became an instant collectors item for fans and sold more than 260,000 copies. Slated for Sept. 25 release, this marks the first time that fans will be able to purchase the CD on its own, and it will be the first Queensryche DVD release ever.

This value-added CD reissue boasts two bonus tracks, ``Roads to Madness'' and ``The Lady Wore Black.'' The DVD will contain commentary by lead singer Geoff Tate in which he discusses the original album and concert.

Originally from Bellevue, Wash., the five-member band now resides in and around Seattle. Queensryche's music is commonly called progressive metal, blending the sounds of progressive rock bands like Pink Floyd and heavy metal favorites like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.

Former guitarist Chris DeGarmo once said, when describing their music, Queensryche is ``the alternative to alternative.'' It is this blend and provocative style that has earned Queensryche a place in metal history.

Since 1983, Queensryche has released an indie EP that sold 60,000 copies and seven full-length studio albums, many of which are gold, platinum and multiplatinum. Most recently, Queensryche released ``QUEENRYCHE GREATEST HITS'' on Virgin Records in 2000. The CD landed on the billboard charts and was supported by a successful U.S. tour.

Always hungry for more, Queensryche's sizable cult following is certain to be delighted with the release of the classic, ``OPERATION: LIVEcrime.''

When ``OPERATION: LIVEcrime'' was deleted in 1998, the last remaining copies were lapped up by collectors. The rare CD has consistently fetched top dollar at record conventions and Internet auction sites. Recorded during their 1988 tour, ``OPERATION: LIVEcrime'' is an in-concert replication of the band's ``Operation: Mindcrime'' album.

In an effusive review, the Rolling Stone Album Guide described ``Operation: Mindcrime'' as ``a full-blown concept album that spins Reagan-era media manipulation into a nightmarish vision of the future.'' It was this multiplatinum, Grammy®-nominated album that put Queensryche on the map.

The ``OPERATION: LIVEcrime'' line-up consists of vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarists Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield. Queensryche maintains a strong fan base. Guitarist Kelly Gray recently replaced DeGarmo.
