the 20th anniversary of mindcrime

I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary Of Queensrÿche's Operation: Mindcrime

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Queensrÿche's Operation:Mindcrime album, Blistering.com will be running a multi-part retrospective detailing the album's creation titled, "I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary of Operation:Mindcrime."

Compiled by noted Queensrÿche historian Christa Titus, the series will feature interviews with members involved in the album's creation, plus perspectives from two other relevant sources. With topics ranging from guitarist Michael Wilton's initial displeasure with the album's mix and singer Geoff Tate's assessment of how TV helped sell "Mindcrime," to bassist Eddie Jackson's take on dealing with new-found success and drummer Scott Rockenfield's intimate details of the band's rehearsal space, "I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary of Operation: Mindcrime" is one of the first complete and comprehensive looks at one of rock's most intriguing concept albums and the players involved in it.

The first installment of Blistering's Queensrÿche's Mindcrime retrospective will be posted on Tuesday, May 6th and will feature guitarist Michael Wilton.

QUEENSRYCHE TO PERFORM OPERATION: MINDCRIME IN ITS ENTIRETY AT ROCKLAHOMA 2008: On Sunday, July 13th in Pryor, Oklahoma, Queensryche (Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Mike Stone) will hit the stage to perform their 1988 concept album, Operation: Mindcrime, from beginning to end in its entirety. The epic theatrical presentation will cover all fifteen songs from the album including such fan favorites as "Revolution Calling," "Operation: Mindcrime," "I Don't Believe In Love" and the closing track, "Eyes Of A Stranger." The band's headlining performance of Operation: Mindcrime at this year's four-day Rocklahoma festival will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release and will be the only performance of its type in the United States this year. Last year, the band released Mindcrime at the Moore, a double DVD featuring the theatrical performances of both Operation: Mindcrime I & II albums that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Music DVD Chart. It marked the band's first #1 chart debut. In addition to Mindcrime, fans in attendance at Rocklahoma this July can expect an encore performance of well-known hits from other albums in the band's illustrious career now spanning 25 years.

vincent solano wins take cover competition

VINCENT SOLANO WINS QUEENSRYCHE "TAKE COVER" COMPETITION AT PARAMOUNT THEATRE IN SEATTLE

CHIEF ESTIMATOR OF INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION COMPANY HAILING FROM FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY TO MAKE APPEARANCE ON QUEENSRYCHE'S FORTHCOMING STUDIO EFFORT

On Saturday, March 1st, at the Paramount Theatre in Queensryche's hometown of Seattle, Vincent Solano of Florham Park, New Jersey was "the last man standing" at the end of the on-stage Take Cover singing competition.

The contest featured three semi-finalists (ultimately selected from hundreds) who were flown in to sing their rendition of Black Sabbath's classic tune, "Neon Knights," one of thirteen songs covered by Queensryche on their recent release via Rhino Records titled Take Cover.

The audience response for Vincent Solano -- a chief estimator at an interior construction company -- was overwhelming!

Without a doubt, he was the clear winner and thoroughly ecstatic to take part in a competition that enabled him to live a rock and roll dream.

"This contest has been an unbelievable experience with my favorite singer and band," states Solano. "I'm so excited and honored to have won as I've been a fan of Queensryche and Geoff Tate since the 1980's. Geoff was my inspiration to sing and study vocals. What a dream come true to share the stage with Geoff and the band. Many thanks to the whole Queensryche organization for this opportunity and thanks to all the Queensryche fans who supported me."

Solano -- who won a regional Take Cover competition while visiting Tampa, Florida in mid-February (Tampa Theatre on 2/12/08) -- will join the band in the studio and be featured on a song from their upcoming album, which is expected to be completed by the end of summer.

"I'm really looking forward to recording in the studio with Geoff and the band," adds Solano. "All I can say is WOW!"
