When Queensr˙che released their sequel to their seminal album Operation Mindcrime, Operation Mindcrime 2 last year, and with the release of the DVD Mindcrime at the Moore earlier this year which was recorded live at the Moore Theater in Seattle on the bands American tour where they played both albums in their entirety, the band were back at the top of their game...

TIME.COM SAYS "THEY CAME FROM THE 80s"

:: 16:22 ::

"Rock music is something that will always be around and raise its head. I don't know if it will ever approach the level it was in the '80s when it was nothing to play to 20,000 or 30,000 people a night. Many of the fans that do come out are people that have been listening for years. They bring their kids. They know the history. It is nice to see that second generation Queensryche fan coming out," said Geoff Tate, lead singer of Queensryche, which toured with Black Sabbath this summer. The bands played to crowds 10,000 strong......

METAL MINUTE GIVES SOTT 4 1/2 STARS

:: 06:30 ::

The common adage strike while the iron is hot has obviously been taken to heart by Queensryche. After regaining part of their core contingency with the go-for-broke sequel Operation Mindcrime II, Queensryche is putting product out as quickly as you can withstand. You should already have the glorious Mindcrime at The Moore DVD in your possession because it is one of this band's highest achievements, but no sooner do you get to catch your breath from that, don't look now, but Queensryche has not one but two new projects to serve under your nose, the first being Take Cover, their all-covers album and now Sign of the Times: The Best of Queensryche.....

BILLBOARD REVIEWS "JUSTIFIED"

:: 06:24 ::

QUEENSRźCHE
Justified (4:02)
Producers: Queensr˙che, Scott Olsen
Writer: C. DeGarmo
Publisher: Tenfoot Penguin Music (BMI)
Capitol's Greatest-hits collection “Sign of the Times: The Best of Queensr˙che” contains a wealth of rarities from the Seattle band. One gem is “Justified,” an unreleased track from 2003’s “Tribe.” Former member Chris DeGarmo joins in on a midtempo song that requires several spins to appreciate its subtle complexities. Alternating between heavy, grungy rhythms and uplifting counterpoints, the dual guitars emphasize lyrical themes of despair and hope that come with trying to salvage a relationship. You can’t help noticing how the words could relate to DeGarmo’s bittersweet departure, but at least his continued friendship with Queensr˙che signifies a happy ending. If only radio would get over the band having roots in the ’80s and give the song deserved airtime.—CLT
