CAPITOL/EMI TO RELEASE SIGN OF THE TIMES: THE BEST OF QUEENSRźCHE

New CD & Digital Album Release Features 17 Career-Spanning Tracks, Including Seven Top 10 Hits; 2-CD Deluxe Collectors Edition Adds 15 Rare and Previously Unreleased Recordings

Queensr˙che To Join “Heaven and Hell Tour” In September

Hollywood, California – July 9, 2007 – In a career that spans nearly 25 years, Queensr˙che has released 15 albums that have sold more than 20 million units around the world. On August 28, Capitol/EMI will release Sign Of The Times: The Best Of Queensr˙che in CD, 2-CD Collectors Edition packages and digitally. The new career-spanning hits collection features 17 of Queensr˙che’s best singles and album tracks, including seven Top 10 Mainstream Rock hits, packaged in a jewelcase with a sixteen-page booklet featuring custom artwork, a discography, and track notes from the band’s singer, Geoff Tate. The Collectors Edition, presented in deluxe digipak packaging, adds a second disc of 15 rare and previously unreleased demos, outtakes, remixes, live recordings, television performance audio, recordings for soundtracks and a new, never-before-heard song making its release debut on this collection.

"In an era that valued style over substance, Queensr˙che emerged as a contrary force to the happy-go-lucky sounds of hard rock in the late '80s and early '90s,” explains Paul Gargano in his Sign Of The Times liner notes essay. “In hindsight, one might even go as far as to say that the band succeeded despite themselves. Whether knowingly or not, they zigged when the industry zagged, progressed while the scene regressed, and offered provocation while others opted for escapism. There's a subtle irony, then, that their best-of collection is called Sign Of The Times."

Among Sign Of The Times: The Best Of Queensr˙che’s 17 hits and favorites are the #1 smash "Silent Lucidity," "Jet City Woman," "Eyes of a Stranger," and "Another Rainy Night (Without You)," and more than a dozen other well-known songs. The 15 tracks on the Collectors Edition’s rarities disc include three demo recordings by Myth (lead vocalist Geoff Tate's band prior to Queensr˙che), three demo recordings from The Warning, three bonus tracks from the reissued Empire album, bonus tracks from the reissued Promised Land and Q2K albums, an intoxicating live version of "Silent Lucidity," a previously unreleased version of "Della Brown” recorded for “MTV Unplugged,” and a new track making its release debut, "Justified," recorded with original Queensr˙che guitarist Chris DeGarmo.

Beginning September 5 in Binghamton, New York, Queensr˙che and Alice Cooper will join Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice on the “Heaven and Hell Tour” for a U.S. trek that is expected to continue through early November.

This time out, Geoff was eager to talk about the stunning Mindcrime At The Moore live album and DVD, as well, as the eagerly anticipated tour with original shock rocker ALICE COOPER and the Godfathers of heavy metal, HEAVEN AND HELL (BLACK SABBATH, but under another name since RONNIE JAMES DIO is singing for them.) QUEENSRYCHE
Mindcrime at the Moore
Producers: Kenny Nemes, Karen Ahmed, Ethan Mesmer
Rhino
Release Date: July 3

This live collection captures both chapters of the "Operation: Mindcrime" saga Queensr˙che concluded last year. Actors and props helped tell the story onstage, making the concert more theatrical than "Operation: LIVEcrime," the 1991 documentation of when the band played "Mindcrime" in its entirety. Seattle's native sons are sharply on point and rock the house, per usual, as they mix their welcome home with a goodbye to the double-album production.  "Mindcrime II" will always be overshadowed by its big brother, but tunes like "The Hands," "Hostage" and "All the Promises" prove the album has its chops. The DVD is the real treat here, from the concert itself to the Seahawks Blue Thunder drum line raiding the stage and whipping militant call-to-arms "Anarchy X" into the coolest marching drill ever. A must for R˙che and Rollers.

METAL EXPRESS RADIO REVIEWS M@TM

:: 19:05 ::

2006 saw the much anticipated Operation: Mindcrime II hitting the streets, and although not having such a revolutionary impact for Queensryche from a commercial aspect, the release was still a very good album, and was clearly crafted by Geoff Tate and the rest of the band with the eventual stage show production in mind. Queensryche had performed concerts in the past of Operation: Mindcrime from start to finish, but clearly performing both the original and the sequel back-to-back was a “must see” for each and every Queensryche fan in 2006.

ROCK CONFIDENTIAL INTERVIEWS GEOFF TATE

:: 19:00 ::

RC:  Geoff, thanks for taking time out for this! The new CD/DVD Live at the Moore sets are out today. Would you say this release is the most ambitious of your career?

GT:  Yeah. I would definitely classify it as that! It’s been a really long, long project. The album itself started back around 1990 and we never finished it. It was always on the back burner. We just weren’t ready for it. We finally got the album done and putting it out was a real milestone for us. Deciding to film the whole thing was a really great idea at the time, but I remember somewhere along the six month of planning it that I was questioning my sanity! Getting everybody in line - we went through about three or four editors and a couple of directors. It was really quite an ordeal. What we got at the end of the day was a really good filming of the show. It’s something very special for the fans.

QR ADDED TO ROCKLAHOMA FEST

:: 19:52 ::

PRYOR, OK --- The powerful, dramatic, diverse and electrifying Queensryche has joined Rocklahoma’s already historic line-up. Queensryche joined the Rocklahoma’s line-up following unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances that prevented W.A.S.P. from appearing on Sunday, July 15 at the four-day festival, explained Mark Nuessle, General Manager of Catch the Fever Music Festivals.

“We are so fortunate to have a band of such high-quality and popularity of Queensryche to step in to the vacancy left by W.A.S.P.,” said Nuessle. “Queensryche is an awesome band to add to this line-up --- especially just prior to their Fall tour with Alice Cooper and Heaven and Hell.”

Queensryche, out of Seattle, is considered by many critics to be the original band that began the “Seattle Sound” that produced such groups as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. More than two decades after Queensryche’s inception, they have sold over 20 million albums, numerous hits and have consistently toured in over 22 countries world wide. Nominated for four Grammy Awards, their music has been featured in three films.

“When you look at their history and realize they’ve toured with groups such as Motley Crue, Metallica, KISS, and Bon Jovi --- that they’ve had numerous Billboard hits that have remained on the charts for long periods of time worldwide --- it just makes it that much more exciting that they have decided to join Rocklahoma,” said Nuessle.

The announcement of Queensryche joining Rocklahoma’s line-up will only push already-record ticket sales higher. Fans can save up to 25% on their tickets by purchasing them before Tuesday, June 26th.

“This is the last chance for fans of ‘80’s rock to see the largest gathering of this kind to get their discount tickets,” said Nuessle. “If they want to be a part of rock history, this is their chance.”
